Tell us a little about your business

Emerald Resources is a virtual office support company that provides professional administrative, technical, and creative assistance to clients. In addition to PA and secretarial tasks, I can also provide clients with a wide range of more technical skills such as proficiency with Excel, graphic design and well-honed marketing and research services. We offer a personal approach, only enlisting a few clients at a time on our books.

I started a business when pregnant: Anna Ridgway of WaterBaby

Here at Business Plus Baby I have a regular feature called ‘I started a business with a baby’. A few weeks ago I heard about Anna Ridgway who was inspired to start her business before her baby arrived! When Anna and her husband Benjamin decided that they wanted to start a family they knew that a regular supply of folic acid was really important for mums-to-be. Despite good intentions during the early stages of pregnancy, Anna found it difficult to take the tablets as recommended because of the  discomfort of swallowing the folic acid tablets, eating before taking every tablet and fitting the tablet into her daily routine. Tell us a little about your business

Excelsior Recruitment Partnership is a specialist recruitment consultancy specialising in HR, PR, Sales and Marketing. We recruit in London and East Anglia we were established in July 2011. There are currently 3 of us working for Excelsior and we plan to expand this over the next year.

What was your job before starting your business?

I was working as a business development manager for a recruitment agency in Cambridge.

Following a different path

Some people are lucky enough when they are school to know what they want to do with their lives. The majority don’t, or think they do but circumstances change. People change. You don’t have to pick one path and stay on it, in fact I think taking a wander down different avenues every now and then can be good for you, and here is why…

I was going to be a nurse. Or a doctor, either would do. I had seen the Young Doctors on TV and knew instantly that was my calling. I am now a freelance writer. Slightly off the medical track but that doesn’t matter, I’m where I need to be and where I want to be. Will I always be here? I think so, I hope, but who knows where life will lead me. Mum Plus Business is a unique free online service for mothers of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience to form local business partnerships. The website offers a secure search and messaging system to find a local business mum partner in a mutual field of interest. Our unique service is very practical and efficient – offering busy mothers the opportunity they need to find a suitable business partner in a specific industry sector and location in a safe and convenient manner at any time of day.

What was your job before starting your business? 

After graduating in Communication Science I worked in PR and Marketing.
