If you’re starting a business and on maternity leave you’ll be used to stretching your budget as far as it’ll go. The good news is that keeping the kids entertained doesn’t have to eat into your budget. It’s surprising just how many places you can take the children for free, including beaches, museums, libraries, country parks and children’s centres.
This summer we had a great time in our local park. It was built over a hundred years ago and has wonderful curving paths that were originally designed for carriage rides. My little ones love the play park with its swings and slides and I enjoy a chat with the mums I know from our toddler group. After a slide, we have a walk around the trees to see if we can spot any squirrels!
And it’s all less than a mile from home. All we need to do is pack a snack and a drink and we’re ready to go.
I’m always a little sad in mid-September, though. The mornings are getting colder, the evenings are getting darker and summer is well and truly gone for another year. We were outside right into the middle of last winter because small children really appreciate the fresh air, but there’s nothing like being outside in summer.
The good news this autumn is that we don’t have to wave goodbye to the Pizza Hut Kids Eat Free offer – it’s been extended until January 9 2011!
For every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet purchased, an accompanying child can choose from either a FREE 2 course kid’s meal (includes a drink) or a FREE kids lunchtime buffet (includes pizza, pasta and salad). You can find more details about the offer at http://bit.ly/a1DhgJ
