Got a product-based business? Free training videos here…

If you have a product-based business that sells accessories, fashion, bath and beauty products, baby and kids products, or any other product in fact, I’d like to tell you about a really useful video training series.

Andreea Ayers of LaunchGrowJoy.com has just released a FREE four-part video training, called Product Marketing Breakthrough, in which she shares:

– 4 proven strategies to get your product line into the spotlight with your customers, retailers, and the media so you can increase your sales and income immediately

– The 3 most important profit boosters for your website, wholesale accounts, and publicity

– 3 specific strategies you can implement right away to create more income in your business immediately, as well as specific how-to’s for each step

– The 3 top mistakes most product-based entrepreneurs make when they try to grow their product line (Yes, I’ve made them all myself 🙂 Are you making them too? )

– Stories of product business owners who have made huge leaps and bounds in their businesses by implementing these Product Marketing Breakthrough strategies

Andreea just released her first video today and she’ll release more videos over the next two weeks. You can sign up to receive all four videos as soon as they are ready by clicking here.

I have just watched the first video and in it she tells the story of how she started her business at around the same time as her first child was born. So Andreea really did have a business plus a baby. She goes on to explain what you should so if you have a product line or idea for a product, but don’t know how to successfully get your product into multiple stores and media outlets.

Andreea will be teaching highly effective strategies you can implement right away and see instant results in your business. She used these strategies herself to grow her t-shirt business to 6-figure sales in her first year. Pretty impressive, especially with a baby in tow!

How I saved time and made money by becoming a publisher

Can you publish Kindle books without actually writing them? Yes, I did it earlier this week, let me tell you how…

I love Kindle books – both reading and creating them –  but working part-time around young children means I don’t have much time to actually write books.

So it made sense for me to partner up with someone who has a lot of material for a book, but who doesn’t have the time to work through the Kindle publishing process.

Self publishing is far easier than it used to be, but physically publishing a Kindle book and publishing a Kindle book that people will actually buy are two different things!

So I partnered up with Becky Goddard-Hill of Baby Budgeting and Family Budgeting. Becky is an expert in budgeting and has a few books under belt now, so writing a book wasn’t a big challenge for her.

I took the same  role as a traditional publisher: I did the proof-reading, editing, arranged a designer to do the cover, formatted the book, uploaded it to Amazon, sorted out the pricing and chose categories and keywords. Unlike a traditional publisher who does little or no marketing, I’m also helping to promote the book.

And here it is: 100 Easy Ways to be a Thrifty Family

It’s a great book – I know, I read it several times as I was editing and proof-reading it! 🙂

So the moral of this story is that you don’t have to do everything yourself as a mum with a business. You don’t even need a business partner in the traditional sense. You can partner up for a small project or even just part of a project.

If you’re struggling to work out what product or service to offer your customers, look first for a problem that they would like you to solve. But don’t assume you have to make or invent a product to solve that problem all by yourself, look at how you can compile, bring together, introduce, partner with someone or even outsource the answer to that problem. For example, I know people need to save money these days, but I don’t know enough about budgeting to help them personally. Becky does.

If you’re a mum who would love to be self employed but aren’t creative in the art, craft or design kind of way, don’t despair. You don’t need to be arty or a designer. Use your creativity to come up with a solution to a problem, then be the project manager, entrepreneur, networker, leader – or even the geek – instead.

Boost your business with Twitter: Live workshop (with me!)

I’m going to be presenting a Twitter for business workshop at the January Likeminded Network meeting.

It’s on 29th Jan, 7.30pm at The Creative Exchange in St Neots, Cambs. Entry is just a fiver and you can sign up here.

Here’s more about the event from Chrissy Brown, chair of the Likeminded Network:

Helen is one of our die hard Likeminded Ladies and is going to share her wealth of experience of social media, in particular Twitter.

New to Twitter – this meeting is for you. A seasoned tweeter – then come and share your valuable experience and help out your Likeminded friends! You are never too old to learn new tricks.

Helen has given a summary below of what her talk will cover:

Twitter can be an effective tool for promoting your business but it’s not without its challenges, such as working out how to use it as a beginner then making sure it doesn’t suck up too much of your time later on.

Everyone is in a different place with Twitter, some of us are complete beginners and others have been using it for years. In this session we aim to offer something useful to everyone, no matter how long they have been using it.

This session will include:

* A presentation on how to use Twitter to promote your business. This will include how to decide if Twitter is right for connecting with your market, how it could fit into your wider marketing strategy and the tools you can use to make the best use of your time.
* A chance for network members to share their Twitter success stories and pass on what has worked well for them. (And if the talk gets too technical for beginners, Helen will step in and explain!)
* After the main session there will be a hands-on mini-session at the end for people who are new to Twitter, including how to set up an account, how to send and reply to tweets, retweeting, hashtags and searching. If you would like to bring your own device to practice on (iPad with internet access, Smartphone, laptop etc) then you’re very welcome to do so. Experienced tweeps will be able to network in another room during this mini-session.

It would be great to see you there! And if you don’t live in the Cambs/Beds area but have a friend that does, please do tell them about this event.
