Cherish and Cherubs was launched by mumpreneur Caitlin Hazell in June this year. Caitlyn says:

“I set up Cherish & Cherubs as I already work part-time and didn’t want to go back to work full-time whilst my son is so young. As a single mum in London things financially are often difficult, so rather than dwelling on things I got my thinking cap on and found the was a gap in the market for an online shop selling high-quality gifts and interiors for children. There are lots of web based businesses selling baby gifts, but in my opinion often not great quality or mass produced items, so I began searching for high quality products with a vintage element. I also drew on what resources I already had; I have a lot of talented friends, mostly mums who were keen to get involved, including an interior designer, a soft furnishings and curtain maker, photographer and crafts people.

I discovered that there isn’t a business offering a beginning to end service, i.e. the interior designer can choose some really cool or classic wallpaper or fabric from Cherish & Cherubs, give it to the soft furnishings lady who will make curtains, cushions, blinds etc. The interior designer can then choose an authentic early 19th century hand-painted cot, vintage wooden horse and toy box to create a room fit for a little prince or princess! Parents, friends, relatives can celebrate the birth of a baby by purchasing a Scottish cashmere, traditional quilted, silk or fleece blanket with a child’s name and date of birth, or for a smaller budget a handpainted personalised keepsake box, good quality clothing or a silver child’s fingerprint charm?

Cherish & Cherubs launched on the 1st June 2010 and already I have over 2,000 hits and the orders are starting to come in on a daily basis. I still work part-time, but hope that in the near future I will be able to retire to that Italian farmhouse I dream of!”
